There’s always a story, some book, a few words that challenge you. Their force go beyond the simple texture, whatever font or funky way the L, S, J + G’s loop. Your writing almost starts to take on that same slant. You become fearful. Is it your words, his words, or what words and no words?
For me, it was my father’s first book, El Abuelo.
